Why isn’t this happening in Manchester ?
Last June, Transport for London announced that the number of cycle journeys made in London had increased by 67 per cent during the past five years, and that the number of people killed on London’s roads fell by 21 per cent last year. In December, a report for the National Audit Office showed that 44% of all bus journeys in England are now in London.
Meanwhile in Manchester, an assessment of the last Local Transport Plan shows that Manchester failed to meet its LTP targets on increasing bus passenger journeys and the number of cycle trips; and reducing the number killed and seriously injured on Manchester roads.
