Rides for Bike Week 2008

GMCC are holding cycle commuting rides into Albert Square (Wednesday St Peter’s Square) on all five weekday mornings of Bike Week. These will be like the regular last Friday of the month rides we organise with Manchester Friends of the Earth/LoveYourBike.

Longer leisure rides are also being organised (see details further down this page).

All these rides start at 8am except Prestwich 7.45am. Anyone can join in. Just turn up.


Open ride, Medlock Valley Way, Saturday 14th June 10.45 am from Picadilly Station

Riders of all standards can join this family ride from Manchester City Centre via Pin Mill Brow, Velodrome, along Regional Cycle Route 86 to Clayton Vale for refreshments before returning along the Ashton Canal to join the main Bike Week event in Cathedral Gardens. Volunteers are also sought (front leaders, back markers, first aiders).

Start outward leg: Picadilly Station, Fairfield Street entrance 10.45 am:

University bike 2 work cycle buddy rides, Wednesday 18th June

University bike user groups within the  Higher Education Precinct  are running seven ‘bike 2 work’ rides on Wednesday 18th June. Start points and other details are on their website.
